Rangers Clinch Home Playoff Game After Dominant Senior Night Triumph

The Jesuit Dallas football team celebrated senior night by clinching a University Interscholastic League (UIL) Bi-District round home game after a 55-21 win over W.T. White on Friday, Nov. 3 at Postell Stadium.

Senior quarterback Parker Towns threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns, including a pair of touchdowns to classmate Fletcher Rosenbleeth. The reigning Dallas Morning News Offensive Player of the Week caught four passes for 131 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Sophomore E.J. Smith led the offense with 201 all-purpose yards, two rushing touchdowns and a receiving touchdown. Senior running back Sean Maguire scored his first varsity touchdown while junior Matthew Priddy helped complete the Rangers' convincing win in the "Battle for the Saddle" rivalry game.

Overall, Jesuit Dallas (5-4, 5-1) outgained W.T. White (0-9, 0-6) 489-240, aided by 265 team rushing yards. Sophomore Tommy Roy led the Rangers with six total tackles, senior Nicky Prendergast added a pair of sacks and sophomore Jack Barton recorded an interception.

How It Happened
  • After forcing W.T. White to punt on its first possession, Towns got the Rangers on the board on their first play from scrimmage, finding Smith for a 63-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring.

  • The Longhorns tied the contest with 3:27 remaining in the first quarter, but Priddy returned the lead to the Blue and Gold with a six-yard touchdown run in the waning moments of the first quarter. A quick three-and-out by W.T. White returned the ball to Jesuit, who scored on a 53-yard touchdown pass from Towns to Rosenbleeth to take a 14-point lead two minutes into the second.

  • Barton snagged his third interception of the season to interrupt the ensuing W.T. White drive and a 33-yard Smith touchdown run gave Jesuit a decisive 28-7 lead. The Longhorns returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown before Towns responded with a 60-yard touchdown pass to Rosenbleeth to keep the lead at 21 points.

  • Smith scored his third touchdown of the game to lead off the second half and Maguire added a 13-yard touchdown run to spot the Rangers a 49-14 lead with 4:46 remaining in the third quarter.

  • In the fourth quarter, Koshakji sent field goals of 26 and 24 yards through the uprights to complete the scoring the Rangers.

Inside the Numbers
  • The Rangers were 5-for-5 in the red zone on Friday and 4-for-7 in third-down conversions despite W.T. White out-possessing Jesuit, 27:38-20:22. The Blue and Gold out-gained W.T. White, 488-240, limiting the Longhorns to only 99 yards rushing.
