A Ranger hit parade in the second inning vaulted Jesuit Dallas past Skyline, 12-0, on Tuesday at Wright Field. Heath VanKirk,
Wyatt Hasson and
Peter Delkus combined for a one-hitter, handing the Rangers their third consecutive University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 9-6A shutout.
Â
Senior
Mark Ready contributed greatly from the cleanup spot, going 2-for-3 with four runs driven in and two runs scored. Fellow fourth year
Will Guzman tacked on a pair of RBI while juniors
Tyler Murrah and
Bijan Kamalipour drove in one run apiece. Sophomore
Jaden Woodson scattered two hits, and senior
Alex Lengyel scored twice. On the mound, Vankirk threw three innings of hitless work, striking out four batters. Delkus threw a scoreless fourth before Hasson slammed the door on the Raiders in the fifth.
Â
Jesuit (13-10) scored three first inning runs with an aggressive strategy on the base paths, posting seven steals in the frame to take an early lead. Sophomore
Caden Carlson walked to lead off the second, and Skyline loaded the bases by allowing Lengyel and Lopez to reach base. Ready sent a full-count pitch through the right side, plating Lengyel and Carlson, later scoring on junior
Bijan Kamalipour's at bat.
Â
Will Guzman drove in two more runs to score Kamalipour and Woodson, increasing the lead to eight runs. Sophomore
Garrett Reuben scored on a wild pitch, and a single to right by Murrah drove in senior
Pete Panko to hand the Rangers a double digit lead. Ready struck again with a two-run double down the right field line to plate Murrah and junior
Paul Gramling, closing a nine-run, seven-hit inning for the Blue and Gold.
Â
Vankirk ended his stint on the mound by retiring the Raiders in order, striking out the last two batters of the Skyline third. Delkus entered in the fourth, a quick inning that kept the shutout intact. Hasson retired the first two batters of the fifth, ending the game two batters later and keeping Jesuit's district winning streak intact.
Â
Jesuit will travel to Skyline H.S. on Friday, aiming for its fourth consecutive district win with a 7:30 p.m. first pitch against the Raiders.
