A highlight-reel performance by senior goalkeeper
Luke Ostrander and unyielding defensive effort sent Friday night's University Interscholastic League (UIL) 6A State Semifinal matchup between No. 5 Jesuit Dallas and No. 15 Juarez-Lincoln into penalty kicks tied, 0-0. Israel Ollarzabal sent the Rangers to the state title game on Saturday with a 4-2 decision in penalties.

Jesuit Dallas (21-3-1) was outshot by Juarez-Lincoln (30-4-1), 26-6 during the game, including a second-overtime bevy of opportunities forged by the Huskies in the second overtime period. The Rangers created several potential game-breaking chances, including a breakaway run in at the goal from Moore in the waning moments of the second half, but neither team was able to get the ball across the goal line before the conclusion of regulation.

Ostrander finished Friday's bout with nine saves, including three saves in the first half, four stops in the second half and two saves in the second overtime. Moore placed two shots on target, junior
Christian Lerma added a shot on goal, and Flaim was the third member of the Jesuit squad to place an attempt towards the Huskies' goalkeeper. Jesuit procured a pair of corner kicks in the first, but momentum was squarely placed on Juarez-Lincoln in the second half and beyond, as the Huskies' developed six second half corner kick chances.

In the shootout, Moore set the tone by scorching a shot to the right side of the net after Juarez-Lincoln opened penalties with a conversion. Ostrander stopped an attempt to the far post, and Minigutti nicked the upper right corner to put the Rangers up, 2-1. The third penalty kicker for the Huskies sent his attempt over the crossbar, and Flaim made a key conversion to spot Jesuit a two-kick lead in the shootout. Juarez-Lincoln converted their fourth kick, but Ollarzabal ended the contest with a quick strike to the bottom right corner.

Jesuit Dallas will next face Arlington Sam Houston on Saturday, April 15 in the UIL 6A State Championship game at Birkelbach Field. Entering championship weekend as the top-ranked team in Texas according to
TopDrawerSoccer, Sam Houston defeated Dobie, 2-1, to earn its championship berth. First touch between the Rangers and Texans is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
