Senior
Luke Millican matched a career-high 15 saves, including eight stops in the fourth quarter, helping Jesuit Dallas reach the Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL) State Championship game for the second consecutive year with an 8-4 win over Highland Park on Saturday, May 13 at Rhodes Stadium in Katy, Texas. The Rangers will face off against the Episcopal School of Dallas Eagles for the championship at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, attempting to become the first team to win back-to-back THSLL titles since Highland Park won three straight championships in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Junior
Jack Tabor led the Rangers (14-5) in the scoring column, logging his first varsity hat trick and posting a career-high four points to anchor the Jesuit offensive effort. Fellow third year
David Sprock added two goals, including the eventual game-winner with 1:51 left in the third quarter. Senior
Daniel Burnum scored Jesuit's first goal of the game late in the first quarter, and was later joined by junior
Grayson Hassell and sophomore
Peter Buell, who both recorded critical second half goals. Jesuit Dallas outscored Highland Park (13-5), 5-1, in the second half to book a return trip to the THSLL State Championship game.
Â
Defensively, junior
Aidan Johnston led the Rangers with six ground balls, while junior defenseman
Marshall Rodegast secured three loose balls throughout the contest. Despite losing the faceoff battle, the Rangers kept the Scots' offense in check during the second half, holding Highland Park to one goal on 12 shots.
Â
The Scots held a 3-1 lead midway through the second quarter, but the Rangers stormed back with two goals over the final 2:15 of the opening half to go into the break tied at 3-3. After Highland Park took the lead back with a goal 1:08 into the third quarter, Jesuit tallied five unanswered goals to put the game out of reach, aided by Millican's fourth quarter performance.
Â
Next, the Rangers will meet the Eagles in a rematch of the 2016 THSLL State Semifinal, a bout won by Jesuit, 8-7. Ironically, this year's state championship matchup will take place exactly 365 days after the last time the two programs met in the THSLL State Tournament. Earlier this year, Episcopal defeated Jesuit Dallas, 7-5, to close the regular season, and the Eagles enter Sunday's championship game with an unblemished, 18-0 record. The Eagles defeated The Woodlands, 11-8, to advance to the state title game.

Sunday's game will be streamed live by the Texas High School Lacrosse League, with first faceoff taking place at 1 p.m.
