Five first-inning runs provided an early jolt for the Jesuit Dallas offense, and several critical offensive plays provided enough for the Rangers to advance to the next round of the University Interscholastic League (UIL) 6A Baseball Tournament with a 10-6, game three win over Sachse on Saturday afternoon at Sachse High School.
Â
Jesuit (23-12) was led by senior
Will Guzman, who went 2-for-3 with three runs batted in, including a fifth-inning home run that spotted the Rangers a four-run lead. Sophomore
Jaden Woodson sparked the Jesuit first with a two-run double, while classmate
Garrett Reuben laced a sixth-inning triple that scored two more runs for the Rangers, leading to a five-run lead.
Â
Junior starting pitcher
Tyler Murrah remained unbeaten on the year, throwing a complete game and striking out three batters. Jesuit Dallas has won 10 consecutive three-game playoff series dating back to the 2015 season, and will face state-ranked No. 5 Rockwall-Heath in the UIL Area Round.
