Despite several close-range chances, Jesuit Dallas tied Trinity Christian Academy, 0-0, in non-district action on Friday at Postell Stadium. In their first action since the Jesuit-Meintser Tournament, the Rangers saw 13 shots turned aside while holding the Trojans scoreless.
Â
Jesuit Dallas procured six corner kicks and a penalty kick, but were unable to get the ball to cross the goal line through the end of regulation. The Rangers developed a chance in the 3rd minute that was turned aside, getting the ball in for several opportunities midway through the first period that were blocked by the TCA defense or saved by the goalkeeper.
Â
In the 33rd minute, a foul inside the box provided senior
Andrew Gilchrist with a penalty kick to hopefully spot the Rangers a 1-0 advantage. The attempt was missed, keeping the contest scoreless. Jesuit launched one more attempt on goal in the final minutes of the first half, but the
Chris Flabiano shot was snagged by the Trojan keeper to conclude the opening stanza.
Â
Trinity Christian launched its first shot attempt to kick off the second half, but senior keeper
Joseph Banul secured the ball to keep the Trojans off the board. A wild series over a 10-minute span in the second half saw Jesuit attempt four shots, sending two away from target, seeing one blocked and another snagged by Trinity Christian.
Â
The Rangers' last attempt came in the 65th minute when a shot by
Diego Sierra ricocheted off of the crossbar, sending the two squads to a draw at the conclusion of regulation.
Â
Jesuit Dallas will next travel to Sachse on Tuesday, Jan. 23 for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. The Rangers will then break for a week before beginning district play the following Tuesday at Coppell.
