Four Rangers posted double-digit performances as Jesuit Dallas was able to keep a 30-point halftime lead intact to secure an 86-68 win over No. 8 (5A) Sulphur Springs on Friday at Walsh Gymnasium. Jesuit closes the non-district slate with a 13-1 record over an immensely 14-game schedule which featured battles with eight state-ranked opponents.

Julius Marble led the charge with 24 points, bringing down a career-high 15 rebounds to lead the team. Fellow fourth year
Max Abmas added 23 points for his fifth 20-point performance of the season. Sophomore
Gavin Perryman shot 6-of-8 from the floor to score 16 points, adding seven rebounds and two assists. Senior
Anthony Hollerich tacked on 12 points while senior
Connor Wilson added five points.

Jesuit shot 49.3 percent from the floor and 31.4 percent from three-point range, adding a critical 24 second-chance points on 13 offensive rebounds. Scoring 38 points in the paint, including a 10-of-13 clip inside the bubble from Marble, Jesuit additionally hit 11 three-pointers as a team, including six from Abmas.

The two teams traded baskets before the Rangers logged their first big run of the game trailing, 12-10 with 4:24 remaining in the first quarter. Jesuit would close the first quarter on a 15-3 run to take a 10-point lead into the second quarter. The Rangers would then open the second quarter with another 15-2 run, taking a dominant, 23-point lead at the midway point of the stanza. The Rangers would hold Sulphur Springs without a field goal over the final 3:56 of the opening half to take a 53-23 lead into halftime.

Sulphur Springs erupted out of the gate in the third quarter, hitting four three-pointers in the first four minutes of the third quarter to cut into the Ranger lead to 19 points. Jesuit snapped its cold stream by shooting 5-of-7 over the final 3:52 to keep the Wildcat rally at bay, taking a 20-point lead into the final quarter.

The Wildcats made one final push at the lead with a 12-3, fourth-quarter opening run and cut the lead to 11, but the Rangers shot 5-of-7 over the final three minutes to close the game on a 13-6 run.

Jesuit Dallas will open the district campaign on Friday, Dec. 21 at home against Prosper. The Rangers and Eagles will meet at Walsh Gym for a 6 p.m.
