Junior
John Scott Lacina tallied his first goal of the season in the 71st minute, helping Jesuit Dallas forge a 1-1 tie against University Interscholastic League (UIL) 9-6A opponent Berkner on Wednesday evening at Postell Stadium.
Â
Berkner scored in the 15th minute to take the early lead, out-shooting the Blue and Gold, 5-4 in the opening stanza. The Rangers out-shot the Rams 5-2 in the second half, earning four corner kick opportunities to attempt to tie the contest. Early in the half, a corner kick from senior
Andrew Gilchrist found junior
Israel Ollarzabal, but the header from Ollarzabal narrowly missed the crossbar and sailed over the top of the cage to end the threat.
Â
Later in the half, Gilchrist launched a free kick from the far side that trailed towards the top of the box and Lacina, who launched a header over the crossbar for the equalizer. Jesuit had a pair of chances late in the contest, but a shot by Lacina was blocked before Jesuit's final attempt on a shot from senior
J.P. Koshakji hit the post.
Â
Jesuit Dallas will welcome Coppell to Postell Stadium on Friday, Feb. 23. The Rangers and Cowboys will kick off at 7:30 p.m. to begin the second circuit of district play.
