A five-inning no-hitter from senior
Tyler Murrah capped the Rangers' 5-1 run at the Jesuit Dallas Baseball Classic on Saturday, earning a 10-0 win over local rival Bishop Lynch after upending Sherman, 6-2, earlier in the day. Jesuit enters the final non-district week of the season with an 8-1 overall record and four-game winning streak.
Â
Murrah faced the minimum 15 batters, falling just shy of a perfect game while striking out six batters. Sophomore
Jalon Mack and junior
Garrett Reuben drove in two runs each while seniors Mac Lopez and Luke Pryzbylski noted two runs each. Lopez scored a team-leading three runs, joining sophomore
Tanner Jones as members of the Ranger lineup that earned two walks in the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader.
Â
Against Sherman, Jesuit shook off an early Bearcat lead with four unanswered runs. Senior
Paul Gramling and Reuben each drove in a run as Jesuit only logged five hits but were aided by eight Sherman errors in the victory. Senior
Chris Irby earned the win after throwing 5.2 innings and striking out seven before junior
Witt Chambers entered in relief, fanning three Bearcats in 1.1 innings of hitless relief.

How it Happened – Sherman
Â
- Sherman took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first after scattering a pair of hits in the opening frame, but the Rangers struck back with a pair of runs to take the lead for good. Mack reached on an error to open the inning before scoring on another Bearcat miscue three batters later. Senior Mac Lopez crossed home after a throwing error on a pickoff attempt, one of four Sherman errors in the bottom of the first for Sherman.
Â
- The Rangers notched two additional runs on three hits in the third as Mack laced a double down the right field line with one out. Jones added a single to right, but an errant throw by the right fielder allowed Jones to advance to third while Mack scored Jesuit's third run of the game. A single through the left side by Gramling helped the lead blossom to three runs.
Â
- Irby retired eight consecutive Sherman batters between the second and the fourth, leaving Bearcat runners stranded on second and third in the top of the fourth. Sherman tacked on an extra run in the fifth after scattering three hits, but a leadoff walk to Lopez sparked a two-run inning for Jesuit. Reuben cracked a triple to left center to score Lopez, scoring on another unforced error to increase the lead to four.
Â
- Chambers took over for Irby in the top of the sixth, striking out the final batter of the inning before holding Sherman scoreless in the seventh to clinch the victory.
Â
How it Happened – Bishop Lynch
Â
- Reuben singled up the middle to plate Lopez in the first inning, giving the Rangers an early lead. Murrah looked strong early, not allowing a ball out of the infield over the first three innings, forcing four strikeouts and five groundouts.
Â
- Junior Caden Carlson continued the Rangers' success with a two-out run in the second before senior pinch runner Cole Beach, who subbed in for sophomore Tyson Pointer, scored on a wild pitch to give the Rangers a three-run advantage.
Â
- Lynch recorded their lone baserunner of the game on a one-out error in the fourth inning, but were unable to place the run into scoring position to challenge the Jesuit Dallas lead. The Rangers would respond with three runs in the bottom of the innig after four walks in the frame. Mack scored Jesuit's first run of the fourth off of a groundout by Reuben, Lopez scored on a passed ball and senior Bijan Kamalipour stole home.
Â
- Jesuit Dallas capped the win with a four-run seventh. Pointer walked to open the frame before Pryzbylski launched a single to the shortstop to score Beach. Mack crushed a triple down the right field line to plate Pryzbylski before a single through the right side by Lopez brought the Rangers to within one run of a run rule victory. Gramling ended the bout with a shot to shallow right field.
