Rangers Retain Saddle With Home Shutout

Jesuit Dallas wrapped a season sweep of the W.T. White Longhorns with a 4-0 victory on April 20 at Wright Field, improving its district record to 10-2 while clinching second place in University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 9-6A. Senior Tyler Murrah remained unbeaten of the year with a shutout victory, allowing only three hits over seven innings of work, walking no batters while only allowing four base runners.

Juniors Jack Lynch, Marco Marrero and sophomore Jalon Mack drove in runs for the Rangers as seniors Paul Gramling, Bijan Kamalipour, Maccoy Lopez, Lynch and Marrero recorded hits. The senior trio of Gramling, Kamalipour and Lopez added Jesuit's lone extra-base hits as each of the Rangers recorded doubles, while senior Cole Beach tacked on a stolen base.

How it Happened
  • After a scoreless first inning, Jesuit opened the scoring in the second inning. Gramling cracked a one-out double to left center, scoring the game's opening run after Lynch hit a single to right field.

  • Murrah worked his way out of a runner in scoring position during the second inning, retiring eight consecutive batters to keep the Longhorns scoreless heading into the fifth inning. Jesuit scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth, capitalizing off of a leadoff walk to freshman Gavin Perryman. Senior Luke Przybylski reached on an error that scored Perryman before Marrero ripped a single up the middle to score Przybylski. Mack forced another W.T. White error to score Beach, spotting the Rangers a three-run lead.

  • Jesuit closed the door on the Longhorns over the final two innings, allowing only one hit over the final two innings. Murrah retired W.T. White in order in the top of the seventh to clinch the victory.
