Jesuit took an early, 2-0 lead in the first period, but four unanswered goals by Plano West sent the Rangers to their third straight loss, 5-4, on Jan. 10 at the StarCenter in Plano, Texas. The Rangers enter the bye three points ahead of Plano West for third place in the AT&T Metroplex Hockey Varsity Gold Division heading into the final four games of the regular season.

Matthew Wrobel increased his team-leading goal total with a pair of tallies on the evening, moving his scoring total to 12 goals over the team's 14 games this season. Senior

Wrobel scored his 11th goal of the year five minutes into the first period to open the scoring before Van Beek ripped a powerful slapshot past the Wolves' netminder on the powerplay to hand Jesuit a 2-0 advantage. Plano West began to tip the scales in its favor with five minutes remaining in the first, cutting the lead in half heading into the intermission.

Plano West erupted for three goals over the first seven minutes of the second period to take a commanding, two-goal lead. Dragojevic's seventh goal of the season with 4:14 remaining in the period cut the lead to one but were unable to capitalize on the remaining 11 shots of the period.

The Wolves' defense locked down on Jesuit in the third period, holding the Rangers to six shots before adding an empty-net goal with 49 seconds left. Wrobel scored on a scramble in front of the net with 18 seconds remaining to cut the lead back to one, but Plano West captured the ensuring faceoff to run out the clock.

Jesuit will return to action after a bye week on Thursday, Jan. 24 against Keller. The Rangers are 2-0 against Keller, defeating the Indians in a shootout on Sep. 20 before securing a 5-2 win on Nov. 8. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. from the StarCenter in Euless, Texas.

Thursday's game against Keller will begin a busy week for the Jesuit hockey team, as the Rangers will follow Thursday night's contest with a three-game series against Allen in the Texas Amateur Hockey Association (TAHA) Pure Division State Tournament. Jesuit is 2-0 against Allen this year, defeating the Eagles, 3-2, in overtime on Oct. 4 before securing another overtime victory, 5-4, on Nov. 29. The three-game series will begin at 8:30 p.m. on Friday at Jan. 25 and will continue with a 4 p.m. puck drop on Saturday and 11:15 a.m. on Sunday. All three games will take place at the StarCenter in Irving, Texas.
