Jesuit Dallas Bowling Aims to Replicate Historic Season

10/26/2019 11:30:00 AM

The Jesuit Dallas bowling team will open the 2019-20 season on Saturday, aiming to replicate a season which produced the first Texas Bowling Coaches Association (TBCA) Regional Championship in program history. The Rangers are set to open the year at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday in a matchup against Flower Mound Marcus as Jesuit will look to continue an 11-match winning streak dating back to 2018.

Jesuit's lineup features several returners, including state individual qualifier and senior Jack Corrales. Last year, Corrales racked up an 8-1 record with a 252.4 average and recorded the team's highest score of the year with a 269 against L.D. Bell on Jan. 22. Corrales finished the season 29th in the state and helped Jesuit earn its fifth district championship and first state tournament team bid in program history.

Sophomore Hayden Montpas returns after an 8-1 record and 225.3 average last year as senior Matthew Vincent will continue to make an impact after a 3-1 mark and 163.1 average last season. Senior Silas Hartman recorded a 3-0 mark in dual matches last year as classmate Jack Halloran rounds out the lineup of returning varsity members after averaging 157.1 pins and a 2-2 record last year.

Fourth-year head coach Ken Howell and assistant coach Matt Shoemaker will mentor a team with 17 student-athletes, the team's highest participation number since the inception of JesuitRangers.org in 2014. A roster consisting of two freshmen, four sophomores, one junior and nine seniors, Jesuit looks poised to continue the momentum established after last season's run.

The Rangers open the 2019-20 season against Flower Mound Marcus and Lewisville before opening the home schedule on Nov. 4 at USA Bowl in a big matchup against L.D. Bell. Jesuit will host five matches on Monday nights at USA Bowl, including key divisional matchups against Flower Mound Marcus (Dec. 2), Nimitz (Dec. 9) and Lewisville (Jan. 13). Regional Championships are scheduled to take place on Mar. 1 at locations to be determined and the THSBC State Championships will take place at Bandera Bowl in San Antonio on Mar. 28-29.
