Rangers Pull Away from Allen in Third Period

11/14/2019 12:49:00 PM

A furious third-period rally pushed Jesuit Dallas to a 5-2 win over Allen on Nov. 7 at the Richardson StarCenter. Junior Santiago Diaz continued his stellar start to the season with a three-point performance as senior goalie Jack Rahlfs was able to save off 23 of 24 shots over the second and third period to keep Jesuit within striking distance of the lead in the AT&T Metroplex Hockey League Varsity Gold division.

Diaz scored two goals and added an assist to lie senior Chase Phillips for the team lead. Phillips added a goal of his own while junior Seth Dragojevic racked up a goal and an assist, earning the eventual game-winning tally in the process. Diaz and Dragojevic continue to be the team's top scorers as Diaz has eight goals and eight assists to his credit for 14 points while Dragojevic is close behind with seven goals and four assists.

Junior Chase Neel added Jesuit's final goal as classmate Miles Dikun and senior Luke Skaggs each secured an assist. Rahlfs recorded 30 saves over the three periods and earned his third win of the season. Over six games played, Rahlfs has a 3.68 goals against average and has made 181 saves.

The Ranger forecheck forced Allen towards the blue line late in the third period and forced the Eagles to take low-percentage shots. Jesuit seized the late-game opportunity to add two goals over the final 90 seconds of the game, first on Neel's third goal of the year before Diaz sent a puck into the empty net as the final buzzer sounded.

Jesuit will return to action on Thursday, Nov. 14 against Southlake Carroll. The Rangers are 1-0 against the Dragons this season following a 2-1 win on Oct. 10 in Euless. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. at the Richardson StarCenter.
