Dragons Upend Rangers With Second Period Scoring Run

11/21/2019 10:38:00 PM

Southlake Caroll turned in a 47-shot effort and scored four second period goals en route to handing Jeusit Dallas a 7-4 loss on Nov. 14 at the StarCenter in Euless. After starting the season 4-1-0, Jesuit has lost three of its last four heading into Thursday night's bout against McKinney.

Four Rangers lit the lamp for the Blue and Gold as senior Chase Phillips led all Jesuit scorers with a goal and an assist. Juniors Nick Boss, Miles Dikun and Chase Neel scored goals as Seth Dragojevic, Alec Rahlfs and Santiago Diaz added assists. Junior netminder Will Carney made 40 saves, but the offensive onslaught proved too much to overcome for Jesuit.

After the first nine minutes of the contest went scoreless, Phillips ripped home an unassisted goal to give Jesuit a 1-0 lead. The Dragons then scored three unanswered goals to take the lead, lighting the lamp for the first time with 2:11 left in the first before securing tallies at the 12:02 and 9:47 mark of the second.

Dikun scored his first goal of the season off of a feed from Diaz with 9:32 remaining in the second period before Southlake closed the period with two unanswered goals to take a three-goal advantage into the second intermission. Jesuit put together a third-period push with goals by Neel and Boss, drawing the deficit to one goal with 12:33 left. However, Carroll scored two goals down the stretch to keep the Ranger rally at bay.
