How it Happened
Â
- Jesuit marched down the field for the first score of the game with 7:49 remaining in the first quarter, capping a 12-play, 70-yard drive with a three-yard plunge from Holman. Barton picked off Plano East quarterback Dylan Hayden to give Jesuit the ball back at the Ranger 21-yard line, and Holman found Allocco from 14-yard out to give Jesuit a 14-0 lead with 1:28 left in the first.
Â
- Plano East scored on its next drive and Jesuit returned the favor with an eight-play, 50-yard drive to regain a two-possession lead. The two teams continued to trade touchdowns as Holman broke away for a 19-yard score to answer another Panther touchdown, giving Jesuit a 27-14 lead heading into the halftime break.
Â
- Walker picked off Hayden to start the third quarter, but Plano East intercepted Holman to open the door for a comeback. The Panthers moved 21 yards down the field to score, then forced the first punt of the game for either team to regain the ball at their own 20-yard line. A 71-yard run on fourth down by the Panthers provided the opportunity for Plano East to take the lead, but a missed extra point kept the game tied.
Â
- Taylor broke through for a touchdown 28 seconds into the fourth quarter to give Jesuit a seven-point lead, but Plano East scored on fourth-and-goal from the 13-yard line to lock the game up once again. Senior Jhalen Spicer provided a massive spark with a 74-yard kickoff return, giving Jesuit the ball at the East 23-yard line and a chance to retake the lead. Taylor scored his second touchdown of the game from 15 yards out to give Jesuit a 41-34 lead with 6:32 remaining.
Â
- Plano East marched down the field, but the 11-play, 36-yard drive stalled at the 44 yard line. On fourth-and-nine from their own 45-yard line, the Panthers were unable to convert and turned the ball over to the Rangers, who were able to kneel out the clock.
