Senior
Chase Phillips and sophomore
Santiago Diaz each racked up hat tricks as the Jesuit Dallas offense erupted for 12 goals en route to a 12-8 win over Allen on Thursday at the McKinney StarCenter. Jesuit moves to 7-5 on the year with the convincing win as seven members of the team scored to propel the Blue and Gold to its highest scoring output of the season.
Â
Diaz finished with a career-high five points, scoring three goals and collecting two assists. Junior
Chase Neel scored two goals as
James McCown,
Nick Boss,
Miles Dikun and
Alec Rahlfs scored one goal each. Dikun and McCown each recorded three assists apiece, helping Jesuit score five first period goals.
Bennett Croskey added Jesuit's last assist. Senior
Jack Rahlfs recorded 10 saves for the Rangers as
William Carney added five stops.
Â
Jesuit opened the scoring with back-to-back goals from Rahlfs and Phillips, the latter coming on Jesuit's second power play opportunity of the game. Allen would score three goals over the next goals, an run broken up by a Dikun tally at the 4:05 mark, before a flurry of goals that sent the teams into the first intermission with Jesuit holding a 5-3 lead following late goals by Phillips and Boss.
Â
In the second period, Diaz lit the lamp on the power play before Allen went on a three-goal scoring run to take its first lead of the game. However, goals from McCown, Diaz, Phillips and Neel spotted the Rangers a 10-7 lead with 10:43 remaining in the third period. Allen would score on the power play to cut the lead back down to two goals, but game-ending tallies by Neel and Diaz put a punctuation mark on the win for the Rangers.
