The Jesuit Dallas soccer team recognized the nine members of the Class of 2019 on Wednesday, Mar. 6 as the Blue and Gold battled Plano at Postell Stadium. The Rangers would drop the contest, 3-1, to the Wildcats in their final home game of the 2019 season as a late goal from senior
Chris Flabiano fell short of handing Jesuit its first district win.
Â
Senior goalkeeper
Connor Tullis made eight saves as Jesuit sent three shots on goal during the game. Seniors
Chris Flabiano,
John Scott Lacina and sophomore
Ryan Shea placed shots towards the Wildcat goal. The Rangers and Wildcats were tied in total shots, 10-10, as each team also secured three corner kicks each.
Â
Flabiano's goal, his first of the season, came in the final moments of the contest as the Rangers were increasing the pressure on Plano in hopes of a last-minute rally. Flabiano earned the penalty kick after being fouled in the box on a pair of shots inside the penalty area, then ripped a shot into the far side of the net past the diving Wildcat goalkeeper for Jesuit's lone goal of the bout.
Â
Prior to kickoff, the nine members of the Jesuit soccer senior class were recognized for their contributions to the program. Tullis, Flabiano, Lacina,
Will Foerster,
James Koshakji,
Kazuma Hirota,
Aleksei Ramirez,
Angel Tello and
Erik Ventura were honored by head coach Charlie DeLong and the Jesuit coaching staff.
Â
Plano struck first with an early first half goal, notching the game-opening tally in the sixth minute off of an intercepted pass, then adding a goal in the 52nd minute on another unfortunate Jesuit turnover which created a one-on-one chance for the Wildcats. Plano's final goal of the contest came in the 65th minute on an 18-yard line drive shot to take a 3-0 lead prior to Flabiano's goal.
Â
Jesuit Dallas will close the regular season with a pair of road games after spring break. The Rangers will travel to McKinney ISD Stadium for the second time this season to face the Lions on Mar. 19 before closing the year against Plano East on Mar. 22 at Kimbrough Stadium.
