Gavin Perryman buried a game-tying basket with 15 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, sending Jesuit and Plano East to an extra session which saw the Blue and Gold earn their first district win of the season, 61-54, on Friday at Plano East H.S. The Rangers came storming back from a 13-point halftime deficit for the win.

Perryman finished the contest with a double-double, scoring 14 points while adding 10 rebounds to help lead the team to the victory. Senior
Darryl Brown scored his 10th double-double of the year with 16 points and 11 rebounds while junior
Conor Moore made a huge splash with eight points and 11 boards.

Shane Hatzmann played a key role in overtime, hitting 7-of-8 free throws, converting his first six attempts to keep the Rangers ahead in the extra session, finishing the game with nine points, three rebounds, an assist and a steal. Junior
Cal Linn added two assists while Perryman led the team with three assists on the night.

Plano East used a first quarter-ending dunk to spark a 13-2 run that gave the Panthers a 25-17 lead with 3:44 remaining in the opening half. The Rangers were held to one made field goal in the second quarter as Plano East took advantage to build a 31-18 halftime lead.

Jesuit started the comeback early in the third as six unanswered points on a jumper by Brown and two three-pointers by Perryman cut the Panther lead to six points. Will Cordle hit buckets on another six-point swing before Moore hit a runner in the lane with nine seconds remaining, completing a quarter that saw the Rangers best Plano East, 20-8 and head into the fourth quarter down by one.

The Panthers opened the fourth on a 7-1 run to take a 46-39 lead with 6:07 left in regulation. Jesuit slowly worked their way back to within striking distance, shooting 2-of-3 over the next 4:35 while holding the Panthers to 1-of-3, giving Jesuit the opportunity to tie the game on the final possession of the fourth quarter. Off of the inbounds pass, Brown found Perryman on the right wing for the equalizing bucket, and Jesuit's defense held off the Panthers' game-winning shot attempt to send the game into the extra session tied, 48-48.

The Rangers forced three Plano East turnovers in overtime, shooting 2-of-3 from the floor on jumpers from Brown and Moore. Hatzmann took the game over with 48 seconds left in overtime, shooting 7-of-8 from the charity stripe to put the game away.

Jesuit will return to action on Tuesday, welcoming Plano West to Walsh Gym for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off. The Rangers will then finish the first round of district play on Friday against McKinney Boyd.
