Prosper Clings to First Half Lead to Halt Jesuit's Unbeaten Start

A pair of double-digit scorers attempted to rally Jesuit in the third quarter, but Prosper handed the Blue and Gold its first loss of the season, 57-48, on Friday night. The Rangers attempted to battle back from a six-point halftime deficit and trailed by two heading into the fourth but Prosper was able to hold Jesuit at bay over the final eight minutes during a game which saw six lead changes in the second half.

Senior Gavin Perryman led the Rangers with 11 points and five assists, adding three rebounds a steal to his final total. Junior Matthew McKinzie hit a pair of three-pointers to finish the game with 10 points, adding a team-high seven rebounds. Senior Conor Moore added eight rebounds and six assists to the Jesuit effort while senior Shane Hatzmann shot 3-of-4 from the floor and closed out the game with six points.

Jesuit and Prosper both finished the game with identical field goal (43.5) and three-point (28.6) shooting percentages. Prosper held a narrow, 28-24 advantage in rebounding, and scored 11 points off of 12 Jesuit turnovers. The Rangers scored 11 second chance points on nine offensive rebounds, led by three from Moore and two from senior Camden Roy.

The Rangers will return to action on Tuesday, when Jesuit will travel to Mesquite John Horn H.S. for its final game before Thanksgiving. Tip-off between the Rangers and Jaguars is scheduled for 1 p.m.
