Rangers Move to 3-0 After Decisive Win Over Prosper

Another stellar, complete team effort propelled Jesuit to an 18-3 win over Prosper on Thursday at Postell Stadium. The Rangers shut out the Eagles in the second half of Thursday's showdown as Jesuit moves to 3-0 on the year ahead of a key non-district matchup on Saturday against Austin Westlake.
 
Senior Tommy Hovivian and junior Curran Rose led the charge with four goals apiece as classmate Billy Metz added three goals to the Ranger effort. Junior Caiden Vlasimisky and sophomore McAllister Hobbs scored two goals each as junior Henry Suarez and freshman Cameron Martin completed the scoring column for the Blue and Gold.
 
Junior Tilt Fernandes, Teachout and Rose recorded two assists each as Suarez went a perfect, 13-of-13 from the faceoff "x" and secured a team-leading 10 ground balls. Junior Mason Chandler went 8-of-11 in faceoffs as senior Jack Selner caused a team-leading three turnovers. Junior Rob Williamson scored his first win of the season, making five saves in cage.
 
Prosper scored the first goal three minutes into the opening quarter before Jesuit rattled off four unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead with 18 seconds remaining in the first. Prosper broke the Jesuit run, but a Hobbs unassisted goal rebuilt a three-goal lead with 7:28 left in the half. The Eagles' final goal of the game came at the 5:56 mark of the second quarter before Jesuit took a six-goal lead into halftime with a second quarter-closing, four goal run. Fernandes found Hovivian for a critical goal with 27 seconds remaining in the half.'
 
Jesuit kept up the pressure, scoring six goals in the third followed by three goals in the fourth. Metz and Hovivian finished their hat tricks in the third quarter before Rose scored Jesuit's final two goals of the game to finish his career scoring effort.
 
The Rangers will welcome Westlake to Postell Stadium for a 2 p.m. faceoff on Saturday.  The Chaps enter Saturday's contest with a 2-0 record following a 9-0 win over Anderson on Feb. 12 and a 14-7 triumph against Kingwood on Feb. 16.
