Soccer Forges Draw Against Plano

Jesuit withstood a Plano salvo that included 13 shots and seven corner kicks, forging a 2-2 tie with the Wildcats on Mar. 3 at John Clark Stadium. Senior Diego Sierra and junior Ryan Shea scored for the Blue and Gold as Jesuit will enter a week-long bye with a 4-6-2 record in league play trailing fourth-place McKinney Boyd by three points for the final playoff berth in UIL District 9-6A.

Plano scored the first goal of the game in the 31st minute, capitalizing on a seven-shot first half with an early go-ahead tally. The Rangers struck back in the 36th minute as senior Will Kelton fed the ball to Sierra, who ripped a shot from 25 yards out that curved into the upper right corner to send the game into halftime tied, 1-1.

Jesuit jumped ahead quickly in the second half as junior Reid Weinberger crossed the ball to Shea inside the Wildcat penalty area, who slotted the ball into the lower left 90 to put the Rangers ahead. Plano tied the game again in the 57th minute, and nearly stole two points from the Rangers in the 74th minute, but senior goalkeeper Parker Christensen finished the second half with three second half saves to preserve the tie.

The Rangers will return to Postell Stadium on Tuesday, Mar. 17 against McKinney before concluding the regular season at John Clark Stadium on Mar. 20 against Plano East.
