A career performance by senior Cal Linn and an all-around stellar performance from the Jesuit lineup sent the Ranger basketball team into the postseason on a four-game winning streak following a 78-33 win over Irving in the regular season finale on Tuesday. Jesuit will await its postseason opponent from District 8-6A as the boys' University Interscholastic League (UIL) 6A State Tournament is set to begin next week.
 
Linn finished Tuesday's game with 26 points, shooting 10-of-14 from the floor and hitting six three-pointers. Junior Ben Johnson shot 4-of-7 from the floor, finishing the contest with 11 points. Junior Will Mansour secured a team-leading five rebounds, matching senior Camden Roy with seven points each. Junior Matthew McKinzie secured six points with four rebounds while junior Grant Kostos, sophomore Dylan Gibbons and sophomore Owen Berry scored four points each.
 
Senior Shane Hatzmann racked up seven assists and four steals in his final regular season game while senior Xavier Reichenstein and junior Sky Tschurr scored three and two points, respectively, to round out the Jesuit scoresheet.
 
Jesuit led from wire to wire, holding Irving to a 28.9 percent clip from the field. The Tigers were held to single digits in the first, second and third quarter, allowing Jesuit to build a 33-point lead heading into the fourth. The Rangers shot 51.8 percent from the floor, 48 percent from three-point range, scored 32 points in the paint and 36 points off of 21 Irving turnovers.
 
The Rangers will await their postseason foe for the beginning of the state tournament. Jesuit and the remainder of District 7-6A will matchup against District 8-6A, which consists of Arlington ISD (Arlington H.S., Bowie, Lamar, Martin, Sam Houston) and Grand Prairie ISD (Grand Prairie H.S., South Grand Prairie).
