Jesuit Posts Fourth Straight Shutout, Third Straight District Series Sweep

The Jesuit Dallas pitching staff kept rolling, following Saturday's no-hitter with a combined no-hitter to secure the team's fourth straight shutout, 9-0, over MacArthur on Tuesday night at Wright Field. The Rangers, 6-0 in District 7-6A, have not allowed a run in 27 innings dating back to a matchup against Lake Highlands on Mar. 20.

Senior Tucker Huhn threw 5.1 innings for the Rangers, striking out 10 and only allowing one base runner during his time on the mound. Senior JJ Luna took the ball for the final 1.2 innings, striking out three of his five batters faced to help secure the win. Junior Cash Riley launched a key hit in the game, a three-run triple to right in the third, while seniors Zach Freeman and Jordan Lawlar each hit two-run singles to help the team's run total. Seniors Connor Chavez and Nick Lazzara each posted RBI to push Jesuit to its nine-hit total, as Lazzara went 3-for-3 on the night with two singles, a double and a walk.

The Rangers jumped on the Cardinals for a three-spot in the second as a single through the left side by Chavez plated senior Gavin Perryman for Jesuit's first run of the game. Lawlar ripped a two-out single to left, scoring Chavez and junior Tommy Delaney to close out an inning that saw Jesuit score three runs on three hits.

Lazzara led off the third with a single to center, senior Drew Messick followed with a single to left before junior Jake Storey loaded the bases with an infield single. Riley's three-run triple marked another two-out hit for the team as Jesuit carried a six-run lead into the fourth. Junior Myles Tucker led off the fourth with a triple to left center on the first pitch of the inning and was driven home by Lazzara's second hit of the game.

Jesuit closed out its scoring in the sixth, when senior Dakota Salazar launched a pinch hit single to lead off the inning, moved to second on a single by Lazzara and scored on a single by Freeman that also brought home pinch runner Clayton Jackson.

The Rangers will now turn their focus to Irving Nimitz after securing their third consecutive district series sweep. Nimitz is currently 0-6 in district, most recently dropping a two-game series to Irving, first falling to the Tigers, 9-5, on Mar. 26 before suffering a 3-2 setback on Tuesday. The Vikings have also been swept by Richardson and MacArthur and will enter the series against Jesuit aiming to earn its first league win against the district co-leader. Game one between Jesuit and Nimitz will take place on Thursday, Apr. 1 at Wright Field with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. Game two will take place in Irving on Tuesday, Apr. 6.
