Seven Unanswered Goals Push Rangers Past Scots in Tollway Series Showdown

Jesuit Dallas lacrosse trailed Highland Park, 7-5, early in the third period, but the Rangers scored seven unanswered goals to finish out the contest and earned a 12-7 win over the Scots on Friday at Highlander Stadium. Avenging their home loss to Highland Park in March, the Rangers enter the regular season finale against Episcopal School of Dallas on a four-game winning streak.

Senior Curran Rose led the charge in the scoring column with a five-goal performance, scoring a hat trick in the third quarter to lead the comeback. Rose found twine on five of his six shots, a dominating effort that resulted in the senior earning a spot on the USLacrosse High School Boys' Players of the Week listing.

Senior Ciaden Vlasimsky, junior McAllister Hobbs and sophomore Cameron Martin scored two goals apiece while senior Connor Legg scored a fourth-quarter goal to help close out the Jesuit offense. Jesuit's powerful offense was on full display in the contest as all six offensive starters had at least one point and 11 of the team's 12 goals were assisted on the night.

Senior Henry Suarez was a huge difference maker in the second half, earning control of the face-off "x" to keep momentum on Jesuit's side throughout the second half. Suarez finished the contest 16-of-22 in faceoffs and secured a team-leading 12 ground balls, giving Jesuit numerous possessions and opportunities during the comeback.

The Jesuit Dallas defense, anchored by junior netminder Connor Knight and complimented by seniors Tristan Hassell, Alex Chen and sophomore Tyler Gazzam put immense pressure on the Scots throughout the second half, and were able to control the page of the game and keep the Scots away from the crease while Jesuit chipped away at the Highland Park lead. Knight would finish the game with nine saves, and the Ranger defense shut out the Scots in the second and fourth quarter.

The Rangers will move on to play ESD on Satudray, Apr. 24 at Gerald J. Ford Stadium on the campus of Southern Methodist University. Jesuit enters the matchup with the opportunity to clinch the division's top seed heading into the Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL) playoffs. Face-off between the Eagles and Rangers is scheduled for 1 p.m.
