Myung Notches Hat Trick for Jesuit Dallas Against McKinney

2/12/2022 6:54:00 AM

Freshman Danny Myung scored three goals for the Rangers, but a 5-1 deficit was too much to overcome for the Blue and Gold as the Rangers dropped a 6-3 decision to McKinney on Thursday at the McKinney StarCenter.

Myung's first tally came midway through the first period, sending home a feed from fellow freshman Konstantin Deshevyy to split Jesuit's deficit in half. McKinney scored three unanswered goals, shutting out Jesuit in the second to take a 5-1 lead into the third. Myung scored his second goal of the game unassisted before adding his final tally with 5:23 remaining in the contest off of passes from Jack Reynolds and William Sahadevan.

The Rangers' penalty kill unit was solid on the night, yielding only one goal on 10 McKinney power play opportunities, but were unable to cash in on any of their six man-up chances. Junior goalkeeper Andrew Zang racked up 34 saves on the night, earning his fourth 30-save performance of the year while facing 40 shots.

Jesuit will close the AT&T Metroplex season next Thursday against Frisco East, as the Rangers will return to the Richardson StarCenter for a 7:15 p.m. face-off. Following the conclusion of the league season, the Rangers will await their draw for the 2022 Chipotle-USA Hockey National High School Tournament, which will take place from Mar. 24-28 in the Metroplex.
