Jesuit excelled in its season opener, beginning the
Jason Gall era with a pair of convincing victories at The 1709 Invite on Saturday in Keller. The Rangers upended Denton, 14-5 before securing a 17-2 win over Denton Guyer to cap a strong debut outing for the 2022 squad.
Senior Samuel Steffler secured Jesuit's top single-game performance of the weekend with six goals against Guyer, adding one against Denton to finish with seven on the day. Sophomore Dominic Arra recorded a game-high four goals in the first matchup of the day, adding an additional tally against Guyer to finish out Saturday with five total tallies.
Sophomore Teddy Scherer scored two against Denton and three against Guyer for five total goals, senior Antonio Vela tacked on four tallies with three against Denton and one in the night cap and senior James Paredes picked up three goals on the day with one against Denton and two against Guyer. Senior Connor McSorley scored two goals in both games, sophomore Nicolai Valenta found the back of the net against Guyer and sophomore Jack Schwetz scored against Denton. Freshman goalkeeper Tyler Wick secured seven saves on the day, including two against Denton before making five stops against Guyer.
The Rangers will make their David A. Segal Family Aquatic Center Debut on Tuesday when the Rangers welcome Southlake Carroll to "The Gull" for a pair of contests. Junior varsity will play at 5 p.m, followed by the varsity team at 7 p.m.
