Jesuit Dallas Hockey Set to Compete Locally at USA Hockey National Tournament

3/23/2022 10:47:00 PM

The Jesuit Dallas hockey team will head to the national stage for the third time in four years as the 2022 USA Hockey High School National Tournament arrives in Dallas on Thursday, Mar. 23. The Rangers will start their tournament run with three games of pool play at local rinks, and will aim to replicate the success from the 2021 tournament, which saw the Rangers secure the deepest national tournament run in postseason history.

On Thursday, Mar. 23, Jesuit will take on Schattuck-St. Mary's (Minn.), and will head to the McKinney StarCenter for the 10 a.m. puck drop. On Friday, Mar. 24, Jesuit will travel to the Plano StarCenter to take on Walter Johnson (Maryland) at 4 p.m. before wrapping pool play at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 25 in Plano against Edwardsville (Ill.).

In the first year under new head coach Nick Hinkley, Jesuit captured its fourth straight Texas Amateur Hockey Association (TAHA) Division I Pure State Championship in January with a 3-0 run through the three-team tournament. The Rangers clinched the tournament championship with a 5-1 win over Strake Jesuit on Jan. 23. The national stage will provide a local spotlight for a team that has picked up eight state championships, and will feature a pair of Team Texas selections in junior Drew Zang and senior Jack Sweda.
