Jesuit Dallas senior Hunter Krepp broke a 43-year old school record in the 100-meter dash, helping lead the Rangers to a convincing win in the District 7-6A & District 8-6A Area Championship meet on Wednesday at Ranger Stadium. The Rangers score the second straight area championship and second in program history with another dominant performance as Jesuit will send 14 entries to the Region I-6A Championship meet next week.
 
Krepp ran a 10.46 in the 100-meter dash, finishing second but breaking the previous school record of 10.50, set by Clifton Murray in 1979. The individual school record adds another impressive mark for the Ranger sprinter, as Krepp also ran anchor in both of Jesuit's record-setting 4x100 meter relays this season.
                                                                                                                                      
The Rangers' 4x100 meter relay team, consisting of sophomore Sammy McFarland, senior Cole Younger, senior Thomas Wray and Krepp captured the area title in the event, crossing the finish line in 42.19 to best Berkner by 0.14 seconds. Senior Enrique Borrego swept the distance events, opening the day with a victorious 9:59.14 in the 3,200 meter run before adding a 4:49.20 victory in the 1,600-meter run.
 
In the field events, senior Carson Walls leapt 23-02 to hit one of the top 25 performances in the state and capturing the area championship in the process. Sophomore Thatch Balady won the pole vault, clearing the bar at 14'0'' while senior Grant Kostos cleared the 6'4'' bar in the high jump to win the event.
 
The UIL Region I-6A Track & Field Championships will take place on Apr. 29-30 at Maverick Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Field events are set to begin at 9 a.m. on Friday before the 3,200-meter run finals at 9 a.m. The afternoon session will begin at 3:30 p.m. with running preliminaries.
