Rangers Tie For 35th In 61st Annual Jesuit Dallas Sheaner Relays

DALLAS - The Jesuit Dallas track & field team tied for 35th in the 61st annual Jesuit Dallas Sheaner Relays at Ranger Stadium this weekend.

The 4x100 Meter Relay team finished in fifth place with a time of 41.76. The group of Will Field, Joseph Konings, Chase Brown and Harlan Beucler earned four points for the Rangers with their performance.

The Rangers had 19 individual entries and two relays compete in the event, which consisted of a record 126 teams and 1,706 athletes.

The team winners included Lancaster in the girls division, winning the meet on the 4x400 meter relay, Mansfield Lake Ridge in the 6A boys division and Lovejoy claiming the 5A boys competition.

RECORD BREAKERS
Ryan Janak of Allen won the high jump with a meet record 7-1 clearance, breaking a mark that had stood since 1992 when Ryan Ledlow of Odessa hit 7-0. In the girls 4x100 relay, both Lancaster and Duncanville went faster than the meet record, with Lancaster crossing first in 44.14.

DISTANCE WINNERS
Anthony Abeyta of Keller was a double gold medalist, winning the 1600 and 3200. His 1600 time of 4:12.22 is the third-fastest in meet history. In the girls' mile race, Denton Braswell's Macy Wingard led from the opening gun and crossed in 4:47.05 for the second fastest run at that distance in meet annals. On Friday night, Coppell's Maya Eastwood won the 3200 for the second-consecutive year with a 10:30.91 time.

MORE DOUBLE WINNERS
Briana Davis of Red Oak was atop the podium in the two throwing events, claiming the shot put and discus. Her 48'1 1/2 in the shot is the third farthest in meet history. Her discus launch of 158-8 is good for the fifth farthest.

Jayden Kennedy of Keller Fossil Ridge swept the sprints in the boys 5A class with winning races in the 100 and 200 meter dash.
