Jesuit Dallas dominated the field at the 2022 District 7-6A Track & Field Championships, leading from wire-to-wire and securing the seventh district championship in program history with an impressive showing on Apr. 8-9. Headlined by a tied school record alongside some impressive individual performances, the Rangers move full steam ahead into the postseason after winning district by a convincing margin.

Grant Kostos tied the school record of 6'6'' in the high jump, becoming the first Ranger to hit the mark since 2016. The senior multi-sport athlete won the event, clearing the bar four inches higher than the field while claiming the district crown. To wrap Jesuit's strong run in the field events, Senior
Carson Walls won the long jump with a 21'8.75'', senior
Lucas Hernandez added a 116'11'' in the discus to finish second, and sophomore
Thatch Balady captured the crown in the pole vault by clearing the 14'0'' bar. Senior
Evan Bare finished third in the shot put with a throw of 45'0.8" to punch his ticket to the area meet.Â

In the 100 meter dash, senior
Hunter Krepp ran a top 50 time in the state with a victorious 10.66, winning by 0.06 seconds while giving the Rangers one of their 11 event victories during the meet. Krepp would join the Rangers in the 4x200 meter relay, joining
Sammy McFarland,
Cole Younger and
Thomas Wray in a dramatic, come-from-behind win with a 1:29.75 total relay time. To start the meet, that same foursome won the 4x100 meter relay with a 42.71 total relay time.

Senior
Enrique Borrego went 2-for-2 at the event, winning the 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs with dominant performances. In the night-ending race on Friday, Borrego bested the field by over 22 seconds with a 9:31.55, then secured a seven-second win in the 1600-meter run with a 4:30.66. Sophomore
Caden Cutchall dominated the half mile with a 2:00.98 to secure another win for Jesuit.

Charlie Humbert swept the hurdle events and sparked a 1-2-3 finish in the 110 meter hurdles with a first-place 15.04. Humbert was followed by senior
DeChi Peterson, who recorded a 15.22, and senior
Finn Soesbe, who ran a 15.26. In the 300 meter hurdles, Humbert added a win with a 40.30, while Peterson would finish in second with a 40.93.

The Rangers finished the meet with 213 total team points, with Lake Highlands finishing in second with 99 points over the two days. Jesuit will next host the UIL District 7 & 8-6A Area Championships on Wednesday, Apr. 20 at Postell Stadium.
