Jesuit Dallas senior
Hunter Krepp finished a sensational senior season with a seventh-place finish at the University Interscholastic League (UIL) 6A Track & Field Championship, running the 100-meter dash in 10.61.
Krepp finished inside of a tight pack of runners, as 0.08 seconds separated third thru seventh place. The senior's official time was 10.609, placing 0.006 seconds behind King Micah Scales from Cedar Hill. The performance punctuated a historic season for the sprinter, who became the first runner in Jesuit Dallas history to qualify for the 100-meter dash.
The senior showed early promise as a member of Jesuit's record-setting relay team, helping the 4x100 team break the school record on two occasions. The first record came in early March, when Krepp joined seniorsÂ
Patrick Bennett,Â
Thomas Wray andÂ
Cole Younger in a relay team that clocked a 42.22, breaking a record set in 1969 and tied in 2021. That record-setting race was the first time that the foursome competed, and the Rangers showed their improvement a week later by breaking the school record a second time with a 41.97 in the 4x100 at the Bradley V. Urschel Invitational.
Krepp secured his first win of the season at the Bradley V. Urschel Invitational with a 10.91, the first of five straight top-five finishes for the senior. At the Jesuit-Sheaner Relays, Krepp placed fourth with a 10.87, then won the district championship with a 10.66, capturing the district crown by 0.06 seconds en route to helping Jesuit secure its seventh district title.
At the District 7-6A & 8-6A Area Championship Meet, Krepp ran a 10.46 in the 100-meter dash, finishing second but breaking the previous school record of 10.50, set by Clifton Murray in 1979. The speedy senior followed that performance at the regional championship, entering the finals seeded atop the field after running a 10.53 in prelims, then winning finals in comeback fashion, besting Xavier Lewis from Lewisville by 0.01 seconds for a 10.66 final time that sent Krepp into the state title picture.
On Saturday, Pierre Goree (Duncanville) won the individual state championship in the 100-meter dash with a 10.22. Second place belonged to Shadow Creek's Isaac Henderson with a 10.31, followed by Tr'Darius Taylor, who ran a 10.53.
