Seniors
McAllister Hobbs,
Connor Knight and
Will Reading punctuated their wildly successful high school lacrosse careers by earning recognition on the
USA Lacrosse All-America team, released on Friday morning by the organization.
Â
Hobbs built a season for the record books in 2022, scoring 59 goals during his senior season. The Penn State commit scored in every game this season, recorded nine hat tricks, and recorded a multi-goal game in every contest but one. The lone contest this season that saw Hobbs score one goal was the THSLL Class AA State Championship game, and the goal scored by the senior was the go-ahead tally that gave Jesuit an 11-10 lead with 58 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Hobbs added six assists, 31 ground balls and five caused turnovers, and was named the
USA Lacrosse Magazine South Region Player of the Week on Mar. 12 after scoring six goals against Saint Andrew's (Fla.), helping Jesuit to an upset win over the nationally ranked Scots. At the conclusion of his Jesuit Dallas career, Hobbs recorded 110 career points, 92 goals and 18 assists.
Â
Knight was once again the cornerstone of the Jesuit Dallas defense this season, recording 147 saves and securing a 12-2 record. The senior Richmond commit recorded double-digit saves in eight games, including a season-high 19 saves against ESD on Apr. 1. In the THSLL Class AA State Championship game, Knight stood tall to the tune of 17 saves, including a kick save in the final moments of the game to help the Rangers clinch the championship. Knight closed the year with a 62.7 save percentage, an 8.35 goals against average and held opponents under five goals on four occasions. Knight added 21 ground balls, including a season-high five ground balls in the Class AA title game. Knight's stellar run as the Rangers' starting netminder concluded with the Richmond-bound senior racking up a 24-4-0 record in goal, a 7.44 career goals against average, and 256 career saves.
Â
Reading was a massive impact role player during his senior season, winning 61 percent of his face-off attempts and adding nine goals. The Babson College-bound senior won a career-high 22-of-24 face-offs in the THSLL Class AA Quarterfinal against Austin (Apr. 30), adding a career-high 17 ground balls. Reading would go on to win 14-of-21 faceoffs in the state semifinal against St. Mark's (May 7), then secure 15 face-off wins in the state final, adding a goal that jump-started a Ranger rally late in the fourth quarter. Reading recorded 10 or more face-off wins in 14 of the team's 16 games this season and scored the game-winner in quadruple overtime against Torrey Pines (Apr. 2).
