Rangers Close Non-District Slate With Setback to No. 9 Rockwall

Jesuit scored 16 unanswered points to end Friday's non-district road bout against Rockwall, but a first half surge by the state-ranked No. 9 Yellow Jackets led to a 51-23 loss for the Rangers at Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium.

Senior Jake Musso finished the contest with 11 receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown, adding three rushes for 12 yards. Senior Charlie Schmidt completed 22-of-29 passes for 160 yards and a touchdown, while senior Will Greenwood thre for 80 yards on 9-of-16 passing and led the team in rushing yards with 43 yards on the ground and a rushing touchdown. Senior Willis Zemanek notched his first touchdown of the season, closing out the bout with 16 yards on two carries. Senior Reed Pfaffenberger carried the ball seven times for 22 yards while senior Cameron Martin recorded six rushes for 13 yards and three receptions for 23 yards. Senior Luke Fawcett finished second on the team with three catches for 32 yards. 

Defensively, senior Roark Holman led the team with nine tackles, and one tackle for loss. Senior Adam Kelly shined in the second half, finishing the game with six tackles, three tackles for loss and a safety in the fourth quarter. Seniors Grant Peters and Luke Buckner recorded six tackles each, with Peters adding an interception and a pass breakup. Junior Bobby Musso led the team with two pass break-ups, five tackles and an assisted tackle for loss. Senior William Sahdevean picked up four tackles and blocked a Rockwall field goal attempt in the fourth.

Jesuit Dallas will aim to reset on Friday, Sept. 9, when the Rangers open district play against J.J. Pearce at Ranger Stadium. The Rangers have won seven straight against the Mustangs, including a 47-21 win over Pearce on Sept. 24, 2021. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Friday evening.
