McKinney Scoring Run Sends Jesuit to League Setback

With the game tied, 2-2 early in the third period, McKinney scored three unanswered goals in the span of two minutes to upend Jesuit Dallas, 5-3, on Thursday night at the McKinney StarCenter. Three members of the Rangers' roster scored in Jesuit's return to AT&T Metroplex Hockey League action as Jesuit finished a busy week that included a 6-2 loss to Southlake Carroll in an exhibition matchup on Tuesday, Jan. 2.

Mitchell Zenick lit the lamp first for the Rangers, scoring with 2:11 left in the first period to match an early goal by McKinney. Ryan Virkar added a tally late in the second period after McKinney scored on one of its two power play opportunities on the night, tying the game 2-2 prior to McKinney's scoring run in the third. Danny Myung added a goal midway through the third period to attempt a Jesuit Dallas rally, but McKinney shut out the Rangers over the final 6:47 of the contest to hang on for the win. In goal, senior Jayson Hess finished the contest with 28 saves.

Against Southlake Carroll, goals were scored by Virkar and Zenick. The Rangers and Dragons battled in a showdown that toook place at the NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills, Texas, the home of the Texas Brahmas, a junior hockey team that competes in the North American Tier III Hockey League (NA3HL). 

Jesuit Dallas will return to the ice on Thursday, Jan. 19 at 9:15 p.m. against Flower Mound Marcus. The game is set for the StarCenter in Richardson.
