Numerous personal bests were set for the Blue and Gold as Jesuit began the heart of the 2023 outdoor track and field season with a ninth-place finish at the Wylie Pirate Invitational on Mar. 18 at Wylie ISD Stadium. The Rangers will move full steam ahead into the Jesuit-Sheaner Relays, set to take place on Mar. 24-25 at Ranger Stadium.
Sophomore
Jesse Jenkins (24.07) and junior
Drew Betts (24.16) set new personal bests in the 200-meter dash, crossing the line in 14th and 15th place, respectively in the event. Junior
Sean Watson followed suit with a season-best 54.63 in the 400-meter dash, followed by a 48.09 personal-best from junior
Thatch Balady in the 300-meter hurdles. Balady would move on to secure Jesuit's top finish of the meet, clearing the 15'0'' bar to place second in the varsity pole vault.
The 2023 Jesuit-Sheaner Relays will begin on Friday, March 24 with the 3,200-meter runs, and continue on Saturday morning with prelims at 9 a.m. followed by finals at 2 p.m. Jesuit Dallas will aim to secure its second consecutive team championship following a historic finish in 2021, and will welcome a stacked field of state and nationally-ranked talent to Ranger Stadium.
