Jesuit Dallas Hockey Concludes 2022-23 Season at USA National Tournament

For the fifth consecutive season, the Jesuit Dallas hockey team competed among the nation's best, taking part in the 2023 USA Hockey High School National Championships on Mar. 23-25 in Plymouth, Minnesota. Jesuit finished its run with an 0-3 record during a three-game slate that saw the blue and gold face some of the top talent in the nation. Jesuit fell, 7-0, in its final game to St. Anthony's (N.Y.) on Mar. 25 after a 3-0 loss to Wayzata (Minn.) on Mar. 24 and an 8-0 setback to Brookings (S.D.) on Mar. 23.

Against Brookings, Jesuit Dallas senior goalkeeper Jayson Hess racked up 32 saves, including 14 stops in the second, and the Rangers were able to able to kill two of Brookings' three power plays. Jesuit earned a pair of second period power plays, but were unable to record a shot in the period. Friday saw Jesuit send seven attempts on goal against Wayzata, but the Rangers were unable to light the lamp and played short-handed through a majority of the third as Wayzata was able to keep the Rangers off the scoreboard.

Hess picked up 27 saves in the second game, and added another 32-save performance on Saturday. The Rangers posted their highest shot total of the tournament, taking 12 shots on Saturday, including eight attempts in the first period. 

Jesuit Dallas finishes the season with a 9-19 record and earned its fifth straight Texas Amateur Hockey Association (TAHA) Division I Pure Championship on January 29 with a 3-2 win over Strake Jesuit.
