Jesuit Dallas placed second at the 2023 University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 7-6A Track & Field Championships, held on Apr. 12-13 at Ranger Stadium.
Juniors
Henry Beckman and
Caden Cutchall sparked the Rangers on Thursday, finishing 1-2 in the 800-meter run. Beckman took the district title with a 1:57.07, while Cutchall crossed the finish line in 1:57.96 to secure the silver medal. Cutchall would add a gold medal of his own with a dominant showing in the 400-meter dash, running a personal-best 49.49 to secure the victory.

Charlie Humbert in the 4x400 meter relay to close the meet, which saw a dominant Jesuit performance secure first place with a 3:23.83, a time nearly seven seconds faster than the remainder of the field. Jesuit jumped Berkner in the final standings with the victory, edging the Rams by four points to claim second place overall.
Humbert qualified for area in two events, opening a strong individual performance with a third-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles. Humbert finished in 15.08, setting the stage for a dramatic race in the 300-meter hurdles later in the afternoon. Humbert secured a gold medal in the 300, holding a lead throughout before holding off Highland Park's Luke Herring, winning by 0.01 seconds after Herring's dive for the finish line came up short of the speeding senior.
Senior
Timothy Bush won the high jump, besting the field by three inches and clearing the bar at 6'4''. Bush cleared the 6'4'' bar on his first attempt after successfully converting at 6'2'' to clinch the district title. Junior
Thatch Balady won the pole vault, becoming one of only 50 vaulters in the state to clear 14'6'' on his second attempt and capture the championship. Sophomore
Mason Adams also qualified for area, getting over the bar at 12'6''.
Jesuit's 4x200 relay squad advanced to area with a fourth place, 1:31.58. The team of

Logan Thompson,
Ryan Engelhardt and Dolen Hedrick edged Pearce by nearly half a second to secure their spot in Arlington.
Junior
Charlie Thornton qualified for area in both distance events, placing third in the 1,600-meter run (4:30.91) after finishing fourth in the two-mile (9:53.56) on Wednesday evening. Senior Jameson Kemp punched his ticket to area with a fourth-place finish in the shot put, recording a throw of 43-10 while fellow fourth year
Hampton Aldridge earned his way to regionals with a fourth-place, 51.08 in the 400-meter dash.
Jesuit will now turn its attention to the UIL District 7-8 Area Championships, set for April 21, 2023 at Wilemon Field in Arlington. Field events and the 3,200-meter run will begin at 11 a.m. before the racing portion of the evening starts at 4 p.m.
