ARLINGTON, Va. - The Jesuit Hockey team traveled to our nation's capital and competed against some of the best prep schools in the country this week, picking up a win and advancing to the semifinals of the National Capital Hockey Tournament at the St. James Health & Fitness Complex.

Playing in the Purple group of what is known locally as the Purple Puck, the Rangers fell to The Hun School of Princeton, 5-2, on Saturday before defeating event-host Gonzaga Prep, 2-1, on Sunday morning. Jesuit closed out group play with a crossover game against St. Joe's Prep that resulted in a 2-1 loss.

Their top two finish moved the Blue and Gold into Monday's semifinals where they met St. Joe's again. After a scoreless opening 25 minutes (the games were comprised of two 25-minutes halves), the Hawks scored three times in the second half for a 3-0 victory. St. Joe's went 5-0 after they defeated The Hun School 3-2 in the championship game.

Three players led the Rangers with two points each during the weekend - Benjamin Khalil had two goals, Rex Garrick had two assists and William Hubbell had a goal and an assist.

Jesuit is now 15-7 on the season and will return to play in the AT&T Metroplex Hockey League on Wednesday, Jan. 7 when it faces McKinney. The puck drops at 9 p.m. at the McKinney StarCenter.
