DALLAS -- The Jesuit Dallas football team suffered a 31-6 loss to Jesuit New Orleans in the home opener for the Rangers on Friday night at Ranger Stadium.
Jesuit took an early lead on the third play of the game when linebacker
Joe Norman intercepted a pass and returned it 14 yards for a touchdown.
Beck Berry threw for 119 yards on 11-for-19 passing.
Cade Kirby had seven receptions for 64 yards. Tanner King had three tackles and a quarterback hurry for the Rangers.
Jesuit NOLA quarterback Taylor Norton finished with 216 yards and one touchdown on 11-of-18 passing. Ja'ir Burks caught three passes for 123 yards and a  touchdown. His 50-yard reception set up the Blue Jays' second score as Ethan Cabos made a 29-yard field goal for a 10-6 lead.Â
The Blue Jays had two interceptions returned for a score. Beau Matulewski and McKinley Perry had pick-6s on consecutive drives late in the second quarter to build the lead to 31-6.
The game was called off before the second half began due to lightning in the area.Â
Jesuit will return to play on Friday, Sept. 12 at Highland Park. Kickoff at Highlander Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
