PLANO, Texas - The Jesuit Dallas hockey team scored three unanswered goals to come from behind and beat Frisco, 5-3, at the Children's Health StarCenter on Wednesday.
Jesuit (17-7) maintained its lead in the AT&T Metroplex Hockey League with 36 points and clinched a berth in the 4-team round robin playoffs, which will begin on Monday, Feb. 9.
On Wednesday, the rangers found themselves trailing 2-1 and 3-2 but responded well.
Maxwell Reynolds scored a pair of goals and had an assist, while
William Hubbell notched his first game-winner of the season, breaking the 3-3 tie with eight seconds remaining in the second period.
Reynolds opened the scoring just 2:03 into the contest and added an empty-net goal with 1:13 remaining.
Allen Zhang and
Aike Han also found the back of the net for the Rangers.
Bennett Ortegon made 22 saves, including all eight he faced in the final 15 minutes.
Jesuit did not commit a penalty for the first time this season and held a 28-25 edge in shots.
The Rangers will step out of AT&T play this weekend when they host the Jesuit Cup at the Farmers Branch StarCenter. They will face Gonzaga Prep (Wash. D.C) and Regis Jesuit (Denver) on Saturday and Loyola Academy (Wilmette, Ill) on Sunday. The teams will play a medal round on Monday.
Jesuit will play the final three weeks of the AT&T regular-season beginning next Wednesday, Jan. 21 against Allen.
