Corey Pointer

Pointer enters his 14th season with Jesuit Dallas baseball. A graduate of Waxahachie High School, Pointer was a decorated student-athlete, earning UIL All-State First Team plaudits in baseball and second team honors in football during his career while winning a UIL 4A Football State Championship in 1992.

After graduating, Pointer was drafted by the Atlanta Braves as a catcher in the second round of the 1994 Major League Baseball (MLB) Amateur Draft before being traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in a three-player trade for Danny Neagle. He played for four years in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, including a stint with the Altoona Curve, Pittsburgh’s AA-affiliate.

Beginning his coaching career with the Waxahachie summer team in 2001, Pointer pursued a career coaching select baseball, a post that he has held for the last 13 years, including the last four with the D-Bat association. In 2013, Pointer coached the Texas Marshals in the Texas Collegiate League. At Jesuit, Pointer additionally serves as a varsity football coach and works in the athletics department. Pointer is the proud father of two children, former baseball student-athlete and current UTA-Arlington baseball student-athlete Tyson ’20 and Brooklyn.
