Coach Short begins his eighth year as the quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator at Jesuit Dallas.
Last season, E.J. Smith ’20 was named District 9-6A and Dallas Morning News Newcomer of the Year, marking the seventh consecutive year that a member of the Ranger offense has earned a major district award. In 2017, Jesuit Dallas averaged 46.6 points per game, culminating the season by scoring a program-record 79 points in the playoffs against Lakeview Centennial.
Short’s offense produced three all-state selections; quarterback Parker Towns ’18, wide receiver Fletcher Rosenbleeth ’18 and Smith, who additionally earned MaxPreps sophomore All-American honors. Towns closed the year with 3,555 passing yards while Rosenbleeth tacked on 1,648 receiving yards, both of which led the Metroplex. Jesuit Dallas closed the year with the best offense in the Metroplex, averaging 558.1 yards per game.
Short earned a bachelor’s degree from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, where he also played football. In addition to his coaching duties, Short teaches freshman biology at Jesuit Dallas. Jonathan and his wife, Christin, are proud parents of five-year old Austin and two-year old Autumn.
