Ranger Hockey Drops Season Opener

The reigning AT&T Metroplex City Champion Jesuit Dallas Rangers were unable to escape a first period 2-0 deficit, dropping their season opener, 5-2, to Frisco on Oct. 1.

Carson Platt notched a pair of goals to kick off the 2015-16 campaign, as Michael Schmidt tacked on an assist for the Blue and Gold.  Royce Allred made the season's first start in goal, going 44:31 minutes and making 23 saves.

Frisco found the back of the net twice in the first 10 minutes of the contest, forging an early 2-0 advantage on the Rangers.  Schmidt found Platt with 2:16 remaining in the first period, slicing the Raccoons' lead to 2-1 heading into the second period.

After Frisco increased its lead to 3-1 win a second period tally, Platt scored his second goal of the game, unassisted, at the 11:20 mark of the third period to reduce the deficit to one goal.  Two goals inside the final five minutes, including an empty netter with 37 seconds on the clock, ended the Rangers' comeback hopes.

The Rangers will next clash with Plano West on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 8:45 p.m. in Richardson, Texas.
