Senior
Gavin McClure scored twice in the first half, and classmate
Sterling Coker put one in late in the second quarter to tie the game at 3-3 at halftime. But the Rangers exploded in the second half, scoring three goals in the first six minutes. Senior
Kyle Casillas put on a display to score the first two goals of the half, giving Jesuit the lead. Freshman
Jack Tabor then used his speed to sprint straight down the alley untouched and fire a strike to give Jesuit a 6-3 with 6:00 to play in the third quarter.
Â
Fellow freshman
David Sprock added to the dominant third quarter by scoring in the final second before the horn, then opened the fourth quarter with another strike to put the game at 8-4. Jesuit got two more goals from
John Michael Priddy and
Zachary Kissick as insurance, and the Rangers took the contest 10-5.
Â
The first round win assures Jesuit a trip to the Super-Regional Semifinals, to be held Saturday in Houston. The Rangers will face Anderson High School, from the Austin area, in Saturday's contest. The winner of that game will then head to Sunday's Super Regional Final.
