Anthony Calabrese found twine for the second time this year. Ranger goalkeeper
George McBey recorded 31 saves during his 60 minutes in net for the Blue and Gold.
Jesuit Dallas (7-8-0) opened the game with a goal from Platt, assisted by Clark and Schmidt, at the 11:10 mark of the opening period. Schmidt scored unassisted with 2:37 left in the first before Calabrese recorded a goal with 9:27 left in the second to propel the Rangers to a 3-0 lead. McKinney found the back of the net for the first time with 7:01 remaining, but the Rangers returned the lead to three with a goal from Clark at the 2:24 mark of the second off of passes by Platt and Schmidt to give the Rangers a 3-1 advantage.
The McKinney rally began when the Lions scored with 1:07 remaining in the second, cutting the lead to one goal on the power play with nine seconds remaining in the period. Holding Jesuit scoreless in the third, McKinney tied the contest 19 seconds into the third period on a goal from Trevor McLain, who would then score the game-winning goal in overtime, finding the back of the net two minutes into the extra session.
The Rangers will next begin their run at the 2016 AT&T Metroplex Hockey League Championship, which begins on Sunday, Jan. 31 at 8 p.m. against John Paul II. This season, the Rangers are 2-0-0 against the Cardinals, winning, 6-1 on Oct. 29 before scoring a 7-1 win on Jan. 14. Jesuit Dallas will then take on Frisco in a non-tournament bout on Feb. 4 before facing Allen at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6.
