Michael Jankovich averaged 21 points over two games on Monday, helping vault the Rangers to a sweep on the first day of the Lone Star Shootout in Frisco, Texas. Jesuit defeated reigning University Interscholastic League (UIL) 6A State Champion DeSoto, 71-53, to lead off the tournament before upending Lewisville, 70-61, in the nightcap to remain unbeaten on the year.

Alan Garcia set a new career high with a 21-point performance, matching a career-best with a team-high seven rebounds, including three offensive boards. Jankovich scored 24 points, shooting 4-for-5 from behind the arc, adding five assists and four rebounds.

Reid Hatzmann led Jesuit with five assists and three steals, classmate
Keagan Nwosu tacked on eight points and four boards, while sophomore
Max Abmas buried a pair of three-pointers, finishing with eight points. Jesuit shot 54.2 from the floor, scoring 16 points off of 12 DeSoto turnovers, adding 38 points in the paint and eight second chance points from seven offensive rebounds. Jesuit went on a 25-5 run in the first half to build a 27-15 lead, using a critical, 13-2 run in the third and a 12-7 run over the final four minutes of the fourth to secure the win.

In Jesuit's second game of the afternoon, senior
Mitch Prendergast anchored the Jesuit attack with 21 points, including a perfect 10-for-10 from the charity stripe. Jankovich tacked on 18 more points, while Garcia recorded an 11-point performance. The Rangers added 22 more points in the paint, shooting 10-for-20 from three-point range and 18-of-23 from the free-throw line.

Lewisville led by two with 4:50 remaining in the opening quarter, but Jesuit would take control with an eight-point run, building a double-digit lead with 1:55 left in the first half. The Fightin' Farmers stormed back in the third, cutting the Jesuit lead to one point halfway through the quarter, but the resilient Rangers held off the Lewisville charge to remain unbeaten.

The Rangers will return to the hardwood for a 9:30 a.m. tip-off against Trinity Christian from Lubbock, Texas before closing the Lone Star Shootout against OKC Storm at 3:30 p.m.
