Kyle Muller threw his second no-hitter of the season, the fourth of the year for the No. 11 Jesuit Dallas pitching staff, sending the Rangers to the second round of the University Interscholastic League (UIL) 6A Baseball State Tournament with an 8-0 win over North Mesquite of UIL District 10-6A on Saturday afternoon at Copeland Baseball Field in Mesquite, Texas.
Muller closed out the contest with 15 strikeouts, carrying a perfect game into the seventh and final inning after retiring the first 19 batters in order. In addition to his dominance on the mound, Muller provided a jumpstart to the Jesuit offense with a two-run home run, his 15th of the season.
Fellow fourth year
Jared Bond added an inside the park home run in the second inning, his fifth home run of the season. Muller closed out the contest with a team-leading three RBI, while senior
Pete Hamrick picked up a two-RBI performance, batting 1-for-3 from the plate. Junior
Mark Ready drove in a run for the Rangers (27-5-2), while juniors
JT Mix and
Alex Lengyel tacked on hits.
Mix reached base on a single to third to lead off the game before Muller's two-run blast spotted Jesuit Dallas an early, 2-0 lead. Muller struck out all three batters looking in the bottom of the first before Bond added to the Jesuit lead in the second.Â
The senior took an 0-2 count deep to center field, bouncing off the warning track dirt and off the outfield wall. Bond alertly ran around the bases at a quick pace, sending the Ranger dugout into a frenzy after crossing the plate, providing Jesuit Dallas a three-run advantage.

Connor Lynch earned his second walk of the game before a walk to Mix placed two runners aboard with one out in the inning. A single up the middle by Muller plated junior pinch runner John Guzman before Hamrick drilled a triple to score senior
Chris Campagna and Mix to provide the Rangers their fifth and sixth runs.Â
Hamrick would later score on a single through the left side by Ready, who then scored on a fielding error by a North Mesquite outfielder. Muller cruised his way through the Stallions' lineup in the fifth and sixth inning, striking out two batters in the seventh before forcing a game and series-ending fly out in foul territory to close the win.
Muller's no-hitter continues an eye-raising season of success for the Ranger pitching staff, following no-hitters from junior
JJ Montenegro on Mar. 18 against Sunset and third year
Jacob Palisch on Apr. 2 against Irving. Muller's first no-hitter of the year came on Mar. 21 against Sunset before Saturday's incredible outing.Â
Jesuit Dallas will next battle Belton in the second round of the UIL 6A State Baseball Tournament, time and dates of the likely three-game series have yet to be determined.
