Jesuit Dallas hockey dropped a 3-1, season-opening decision to McKinney in a rematch of last year's AT&T Metroplex Hockey League playoff game on Sept. 28 in Richardson, Texas.
Â
Bryce Clark scored Jesuit's lone goal of the contest off of assists from
Jacob Berg and
Matthew Wrobel in the third period. McKinney (1-0-0) scored two unanswered goals to start the game, adding an empty-net goal in the third to derail The Rangers' comeback attempt.
Â
Jesuit (0-1-0) outshot McKinney, 24-10 in the second and third periods after being outshot, 13-3 in the opening stanza, but were hampered by seven penalties in the latter two periods.
Â
Ranger goalkeeper
Royce Allred wrapped the contest with 20 saves, stopping 90.9 percent of shots on goal. Jesuit's defense held McKinney's power-play in check, stopping all nine of McKinney's power plays, including a 5-on-3 in the second period.
Â
Jesuit will return to the ice on Thursday, Oct. 5 against Southlake Carroll. The Dragons are 0-1 on the year after a 5-2 loss to Plano West on Sept. 28. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:45 p.m. at the Dr. Pepper StarCenter in Euless, Texas.Â
