Trailing by a point heading into the second quarter the No. 21 Jesuit Dallas basketball squad used an 18-7 run to prime a 65-43 victory over Mesquite on Tuesday evening. Playing their second game in four days on the road, the Rangers responded with another dominant effort down the stretch to move to 2-0 on the season.

Julius Marble was a key catalyst for Jesuit's 38 points in the paint, converting 9-of-10 shots from the floor to finish with 19 points, adding six rebounds. Classmate
Max Abmas notched his second straight double-digit scoring effort with 14 points while seniors
Keagan Nwosu and
Marcus Hill scored nine points apiece.

Joey Preboy set a new career-high with a team-best nine rebounds, aiding an effort that saw Jesuit out-rebound Mesquite, 33-23. For the second straight game Jesuit shot at or above the Mendoza line, converting 50 percent of shots from the field while only turning the ball over 13 times.

How it Happened

- Mesquite stormed out of the gate for a 14-7 lead with 4:16 remaining in the opening quarter, shooting 4-for-6 and burying a pair of three-pointers to kick off the contest.

- A layup by Marble sparked a 13-4 run for Jesuit that closed the first quarter and opened the second, handing Jesuit its first lead at the 4:56 mark of the second quarter.

- Over the final three minutes of the opening half, Mesquite was held without a field goal while Jesuit took a double-digit lead off of baskets from Abmas, Marble, Nwosu and senior Chris Horton.

- Jesuit took the lead for good with an 11-2 run to open the second half, which included six points from Marble Mesquite attempted to work its way back into the game with five unanswered points but a 7-0 run in the fourth quarter gave the Rangers a dominating, 22-point lead with 6:41 remaining in regulation.

- The Rangers exhibited efficient ball distribution, with assists on 15 of their 27 made baskets. By comparison, Mesquite only recorded three assists.

- Aided by Preboy's five offensive rebounds, Jesuit scored 13 second chance points off of 13 offensive rebounds.

- Both teams had 56 possessions throughout the contest, but Jesuit was able to hold the lead for 64.8 percent of the game.
