Frontcourt Dominance Vaults Rangers Over Longhorns

Four Rangers finished in double digits, propelling the Blue and Gold to an 87-46 win over the W.T. White Longhorns on Friday evening at W.T. White High School.
 
Junior Keagan Nwosu scored a career-high 13 points, aiding Jesuit during a dominant performance that saw the Rangers shoot 69.6 percent from the floor and 66.7 percent from three-point range. Senior Mitch Prendergast scored a team-leading 18 points, followed by 16 points from junior Marcus Hill and 12 from fellow third year Michael Jankovich.

Junior Reid Hatzmann pulled down a team-high six rebounds and added a squad-leading nine assists, while Prendergast and Marcus hill recorded two assists apiece.
 
Jesuit Dallas (18-9, 7-4 UIL 9-6A) shot 69.6 percent from the floor and 66.7 percent from three-point range, scoring 20 points off of 15 W.T. White turnovers. In addition, Jesuit dominated the paint, scoring 48 points, out-rebounding W.T. White, 33-12. 
 
Opening the game shooting 8-of-13 from the field and 2-of-5 from three-point range, Jesuit took an 18-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Rangers' offense continued to dominate in the second quarter, where Jesuit hit nine of 10 field goal attempts, closing the quarter on a 12-3 run to pick up a 24-point lead at halftime.
 
W.T. White attempted to build a comeback attempt in the third, hitting a trio of three-pointers and forcing three Jesuit turnovers, but Jesuit responded with 11 points from Prendergast, seven points from Hill to enter the fourth quarter leading by 29 points. Junior Joey Preboy scored six points in the fourth quarter, while senior Andrew Olinger scored five points to close the game on a 19-7 run, closing an impressive shooting evening for the Blue and Gold.
 
Next week, the Rangers will battle Berkner on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. before celebrating senior day on Friday, Feb. 9.
